Free Amigurumi Patterns

Free amigurumi patterns for cute crochet stuffed animals and toys, each one written round by round: a stitch count at the end of every round, a photo of each piece so you can check your work, US terms and a printable PDF. Choose one and pick up your hook.

Easy amigurumi patterns for beginners

Just starting out with amigurumi? Begin with an easy pattern: only a few pieces, easy shaping, and single crochet in the round. The Positive potato and the Positive pickle work up fast and small, while the chicken, the duck, the pig, and the frog are simple animals to try after that.

Crochet stuffed animal patterns

A lot of our patterns are crochet animals: farm friends such as the cow and the shaggy Highland cow, birds ranging from a penguin to a goose, pets like the puppy and the kitten, plus wilder pals such as the fox, the dinosaur and a baby dragon.

Food and holiday amigurumi

You'll find amigurumi food as well, going from a smiling pineapple all the way to a gingerbread man, plus holiday toys: a Christmas tree, a snowman, and a kawaii ghost. Check out all our Christmas amigurumi patterns.

What you need

  • Use the yarn weight the pattern tells you, usually DK (light worsted). Cotton makes stitches crisp, while acrylic feels soft and washes easily.
  • The pattern says which crochet hook to use, and it's usually one size smaller than what the yarn label tells you, so the stuffing won't peek through.
  • Safety eyes, or black yarn to embroider the eyes for a toy for a baby.
  • For stuffing, use fiberfill. You'll also want a stitch marker to mark the start of the round, plus a yarn needle and scissors.

What you see is what you make

Each photo of a pattern comes from that pattern's own stitches, so the toy shown is the toy your rounds make, bit by bit. Every round finishes with its stitch count, and each piece has a photo you can check, so you always know you're on track.
