About Crochet Pirate

The Crochet Pirate mascot cheering

Crochet Pirate makes amigurumi patterns that you can really finish, plus an app that takes a photo of any toy and turns it into your own crochet pattern.

How our patterns are made

Every toy gets made stitch by stitch, round by round, as a model of the crochet itself. That's why the stitch count for each round adds up, and why the pictures in a pattern show what its rounds really make: the photos at every checkpoint come from the pattern, not from some other toy.

How our patterns are written

  • US crochet terms, and at the top, you'll see the short forms each pattern uses.
  • Rounds in a spiral, the amigurumi way: no joining, just move a stitch marker up every round.
  • A stitch count for every round, in brackets at the end of the line.
  • Checkpoints: what the piece should look like and measure before you stuff it, close it or sew it on.
  • Piece by piece, then assembly, with where each part goes.

Using our patterns

Every pattern here is free to use for yourself. You can sell the toys you make from them, and we always love a shout-out to Crochet Pirate. Just please don't sell, copy, or re-post the pattern itself, share a link to its page instead.
